Pioneers Look to Break Skid with Upcoming Home Series against CSU Dominguez Hills

Overview

CSU East Bay will return home from an eight game road trip as they will take on CSU Dominguez Hills. The Pioneers dropped all four games in their series against CSU San Marcos last weekend while the Toros won their series with CSU San Bernardino 3-1.

History

The Toros lead the series 23-16. This weekend's series will be the first time since 2019 that these two schools have played each other. 
 

Three Players to Watch

Annelise Garcia – The freshman from Sacramento, California leads the Pioneers in hitting percentage at .397. She is currently 11th in the CCAA in hitting percentage and 6th in the CCAA in fielding percentage at .987.

Anamaria Beard – The senior from Pleasanton, California has a 1.67 ERA which is fifth in the CCAA in that category. She has 24 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched. 

Sara Fukushima – The senior from Sacramento, California leads the CCAA in fielding percentage at .995. She is also 14th in the CCAA in hitting percentage at .377.

Last Series

The Pioneers traveled to San Marcos to take on the conference leaders in CSU San Marcos. In game one on Friday, the Cougars scored three in the fifth inning en route to a 3-1 victory. In an instant classic, in game two, the Pioneers tied the game in the top of the fifth and took the lead in both the top of the eighth and tenth innings before falling 4-3 in ten innings. On Saturday, in game one, the Cougars scored three runs in both the first and second innings and won 8-0. In game two, the Pioneers would score two runs in the top of the seventh but the Cougars prevailed 3-2.

Around the CCAA

CSU San Marcos and Chico State are tied at the top of the conference standings. They will take on each other in Chico with doubleheaders on both Friday and Saturday. San Francisco State and CSU Monterey Bay are tied for fifth. Both the Otters and Gators are off this weekend.
