ALAMEDA, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's golf team put together a second-consecutive strong performance, finishing second of 13 teams at the 2022 Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park Golf Course.
CSUEB put together a total combined score of 590 (+14) during the two-day tournament, just one off pace of first place Sonoma State (589, +13). Cal State Monterey Bay (599, +23) finished nine strokes behind the Pioneers and claimed third place to round out the top three.
Senior
Drishti Karumbaya finished second overall with a score of 142, shooting an even 72 in Round two on Tuesday. The Mysore, India, native was tied for first-place entering Day 2, after shooting a 70 (-2) in Round 1 on Monday.
Karumbaya finished just one stroke behind first-place winner Claire Shubin of Dominican (141, -3). Shubin shot a 69 (-3) on Tuesday, while third-place finisher Lexi Nielsen of Sonoma State (143, -5) shot an incredible 66 (-6) on Tuesday.
Sachika Singh recorded and 11th-place finish after shooting 74 in consecutive days for a 148 (
+4), while
Caroline Berge and
Jasmin Krishna had identical scores of 74 on Day 1 and 76 on Day 2 to tie for 15th overall (150, +6).
Arrianna Custodio earned a tie for 28th (154, +10) to round out the scoring for East Bay, and
Cassandra Puspoki tied for 66th playing as an individual (167, +23)
The Pioneers resume action on Monday at the Cal State San Marcos Fujikura Invitational.
