HAYWARD, Calif. — The No. 24-ranked Cal State East Bay women's basketball team rallied for a thrilling home victory against Cal State LA, 65-62, on Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Gym.
Junior
Grace Campbell scored a season-high 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, including five key points late in the fourth quarter, to go along with a team-high 10 rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Zhane Duckett finished with 14 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, sophomore
Mina Tameliau scored 12 points and senior guard
Madison Schiller finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
CSUEB came back from a 10-point deficit early in the second half to go ahead by one. Junior guard
Delia Moore made two-consecutive 3-pointers, Duckett made two-straight threes and Tameliau made a 3-pointer of her own to give the Pioneers a 44-43 lead with 3:20 remaining in the third quarter.
East Bay found itself behind again by five in the fourth period. A bucket inside by senior
Faith Turner made it a one-point game, 58-57, and a 3-pointer by junior
Grace Campbell knotted the score 60-60 with 3:18 left to play.
A short jumper by Campbell put the Pioneers on top by two, 62-60, and clutch free throws down the by Duckett and Moore helped season the win. CSUEB held Cal State LA to just two points in the final 3:38 of the game.
Cal State East Bay returns to action next week with a road contest at Sonoma State on Thursday, Feb. 10, followed by a road game at Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday, Feb. 12.
