East Bay Wins Big Over Holy Names 11-4, Drops Contest to Azusa Pacific

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 IRVINE, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay softball team had a big day offensively, defeating Holy Names 11-4 in the second of two contests on Day 2 of the Concordia Kickoff Classic.

Senior Sarah Fukushima homered in the third inning, while freshman Gabriella Rivera, freshman Ysabella Cortez and junior Sarah Duran each finished with two hits to lead the Pioneers to their third win of the season. Starting pitcher Savannah Barchus allowed three earned runs on six hits in 5.2 innings to record her first win in a Pioneer uniform. 

Senior Madeline Ramirez doubled and scored two runs for East Bay (3-1), which scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to win comfortably.

The Pioneers dropped Game 1 on Saturday to Azusa Pacific, 3-0. Duran finished with two hits, while senior Abby Greer tossed a complete game allowing three earned runs while striking out seven.
