Box Score 2 IRVINE, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay softball team began its season with two big wins on Friday in the first day of the Concordia Kickoff Classic.
CSUEB 7, No. RV Western Washington 2
Junior
Sarah Duran and
Venessa Nguyen had two hits apiece in their first game in a Pioneer uniform, while junior
Madeline Ramirez finished with three RBI to lift the Pioneers to a season-opening victory over WWU.
Duran had a double and scored two runs, while
Serena Cadena blasted her first-career home run in the victory. Senior
Abby Greer pitched all seven inning tallying 12 strikeouts and allowing just three hits and two earned runs.
East Bay had a total of 10 hits, and took a 3-0 lead in the third inning before adding two more in the sixth and one in the seventh.
CSUEB 5, Western Oregon 4
Duran scored two runs to help the Pioneers pull off a comeback victory in the second game of Friday's doubleheader.
East Bay fell behind 3-0 in the second inning, but scored two in the third, two in the fifth and got the winning run in the bottom of the sixth to start the season 2-0.
Senior
Anamaria Beard tossed 3.2 scoreless inning with three strikeouts to earn her first win of the season in the circle.
