HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay baseball team began the 2022 season on a high note Friday afternoon, earning a shutout victory over Academy of Art, 4-0.

Sophomore Matthew O'Mahony hit his first home run in a Pioneer uniform, blasting a shot over the left field fence in the fourth inning to put CSUEB ahead by four. 

O'Mahony finished with two hits on the day, while sophomore ace Ethan Brodsky threw five shutout innings allowing four hits while striking out six for the victory on the mound. Ryan Robinson notched his first save of the season after tossing three scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

East Bay and Academy of Art wrap up this weekend's series with a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 5, beginning at 11 a.m.
