CHICO, Calif. — The No. RV Cal State East Bay women's basketball team closed the regular season with an emphatic, hard-fought road win at Chico State, 74-66, Saturday night at Acker Gymnasium.
CSUEB (20-2, 15-1) has won five-straight games, and will be the No. 2 seed in next week's CCAA Tournament Semifinals set for Friday, March 4 in Humboldt.
The Pioneers are ranked No. 3 in the latest NCAA West Region Poll, with the top eight teams qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
Zhane Duckett scored a career-high 21 points with four rebounds and five assists to lead the way in the win. The Oakland native went 10-of-13 from the free-throw line and also had two steals.
Delia Moore added 14 points with a career-high nine rebounds, while
Taylor Linzie recorded her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Mina Tameliau scored 10 points with five rebounds and three steals off the bench, and
Madison Schiller recorded five points and eight rebounds.
The game went back-and-forth in the final quarter, as Tameliau scored four straight points to put the Pioneers ahead by two, before Schiller's driving layup made it 62-58 with 4:44 left to play.
Buckets inside by Linzie and Duckett helped seal the win in the final minutes, as East Bay now awaits to find out its next opponent.
