HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay softball team is back home for a four-game set this week, as the Pioneers play host to Cal Poly Humboldt beginning on Friday, Feb. 25 at 12 p.m. The doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 26, is scheduled for 11 a.m.
CSUEB (8-5, 2-2) is coming off its best offensive performance of the season last time they took the field, pounding out 14 hits in a 14-3 victory at Cal State San Bernardino.
Madeline Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, five RBI and two runs scored, while
Sarah Fukushima and
Ysabella Cortez both finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Sarah Duran is batting 3.78 this season with team-highs of 17 hits and five doubles. Fukushima is hitting .375 with two home runs, and is tied with Duran for the team lead in runs scored (11).
Annelise Garcia ranks fifth in the conference in both batting average (.458) and slugging (.792), and is also third in on-base percentage (.552).
Fukushima has been hit by a pitch a league-leading seven times.
Senior
Abby Greer leads the team and ranks fourth in the conference with 39 strikeouts, as her 39.1 innings pitched rank sixth in the CCAA.
Annamaria Beard's five wins lead the Pioneers, as the senior boasts a 1.68 ERA that ranks eighth in the league.
The Pioneers are 6-4 against Humboldt since 2018. The Lumberjacks (7-5, 3-1) are coming off winning three of four games last week at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
