HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay softball team is set for its home opener this week, as the Pioneers play host to Holy Names on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Pioneer Softball Field beginning at 12 p.m.
CSUEB (5-2) is 16-5 all-time against Holy Names and has won 12 of its last 13 matchups with the Hawks, including an 11-4 victory this season as part of the Concordia Kickoff Classic on Feb. 5.
The Pioneers are coming off a doubleheader split on the road against Dominican on Feb. 12. Freshman catcher
Annelise Garcia went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, and
Serena Cadena hit a two-RBI double in the top of the first inning en route to a 7-3 victory.
Senior
Anamaria Beard stayed perfect in the pitcher's circle, tossing seven strong innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out five to earn the win.

Sarah Fukushima finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in a 4-3 defeat to the Penguins, as fellow senior
Madeline Ramirez also went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI double in the fourth.
Senior
Abby Greer was spectacular in the circle despite talking the loss, as the Beaverton, Ore., native struck out nine and allowed three earned runs in seven innings pitched.
Junior
Sarah Duran is batting a team-best .400 this season (10-for-25), and also leads the team with eight RBI. Fukushima has a team-high seven runs scored this season, while Ramirez is pacing the Pioneers with three doubles.
Greer has been a standout throughout this season in the circle, amassing 28 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched with a 2.55 ERA. Meanwhile, Beard is a perfect 3-0 this season, allowing just nine hits in 16 innings pitched.
