CARSON, Calif. – A make up game was played Friday afternoon between the Cal State East Bay women's basketball team and No. 21 Cal State Dominguez Hills. It was the Toros who finished with a 75-50 win at The Torodome, as they remained unbeaten for the 2022-23 season.
The Pioneers fell behind 10-2 early in the game and were unable to significantly catch up. After the opening quarter, Cal State Dominguez Hills led 15-9.
Although
Jaela Richardson scored the first two points of the second quarter to cut the deficit to four points, the Toros pulled away to take a 36-21 lead into halftime.
Through three quarters, CSUDH continued to expand the lead and was ahead 63-40 going into the fourth quarter.
Despite an evenly played fourth quarter, the Pioneers did not catch up, and the Toros kept their unbeaten streak intact with a 75-50 win on Friday.
- Scoring a team-high 14 points for the Pioneers was Payton Sterk, who went 5-for-10 from the floor and made a pair of free throws.
- After scoring 12 points on Friday, Richardson has scored in double figures for eight of nine games this season.
- Richardson also had a team-high nine rebounds.
- Defensively, Grace Campbell had a block and three steals.
- Asia Jordan from CSUDH led all scorers with 16 points, and also had nine rebounds.

"We need to come with more urgency on the road, especially on the defensive end. We have to finish plays with box outs. We struggled tonight converting on the offensive end and capitalizing at the free throw line."
