SAN FRANCISCO – At Golden Gate Park on Friday afternoon, the Cal State East Bay men's cross country team competed in the SF State Invitational. Among 11 teams, the Pioneers placed in third for team scoring.
Here are some of the notable highlights from the 8k run for Cal State East Bay.
- Cole McKain placed ninth overall as CSUEB's top finisher with an 8k time of 25 minutes, 30.2 seconds.
- Matthew Morgon improved his 8k time to a personal best of 26:06.0
- Eclipsing his previous 8k personal best reached in the Pioneers' previous meet was Dylan Shubert, with a finish of 26:17.9.
- Dylan Gong made his Pioneer debut with a time of 26:24.2.
- Chas O'Bear achieved a personal best 8k time of 26:43.4.
"Today's races were great steps forward for both teams," stated CSUEB assistant coach
Jordan Rodriguez.
Simon Fraser was the team champion of the meet as the top five finishers of the 8k were members of the Red Leafs led by Charlie Dannatt with a finish of 24:42.7.
The Pioneers run one more regular season meet in 2022 – the NCAA D2 Pre-Nationals which takes place on Saturday, October 22 at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington.
