Granato Finishes in 7th Place Tie at West Regional Preview

DALLAS – The Cal State East Bay women's golf team finished the West Regional Preview on Tuesday in sixth place among 16 teams. Individually, Mandi Granato was tied for seventh place on the leaderboard with the Pioneers' lowest score in the tournament.
 
Here are some notable highlights for Cal State East Bay during the West Region Preview.
  • Granato finished in a seventh place tie at even par 216 (74-69-73). She had 10 birdies and 34 even par holes.
  • In a 10th place tie was Drishti Karumbaya, who finished at 2-over-par 218, including a 71 on Tuesday. She finished the tournament with one eagle (in the second round) and 11 birdies, with five birdies in the final round.
  • Also with an eagle in the tournament for the Pioneers, on the ninth hole in round three, was Julika Grosspietsch.
"The team played better this week and we competed hard for all 54 holes." stated Cal State East Bay head coach Alan Sue. "This group is very talented and we just need to clean up some mental mistakes and we can be back here in May. Out collective games fits very well to the challenge of this golf course."

Dallas Baptist, the host team, was also the tournament winning team. Julia Garcia from DBU was the medalist atop the leaderboard at 6-under-par 210.
 
During the week of October 17, Cal State East Bay returns to action in the Nick Turner Invitational, which will take place at Arroyo Del Oso Golf Course in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
