HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball looks to resume action this week with a road contest at rival San Francisco State on Saturday, Jan. 15, at The Swamp Main Gym beginning at 3 p.m.
Thursday evening's contest at Cal State Monterey Bay has been canceled due to COVID protocol.
At this time, only four individuals per competing student-athlete and/or coach (for both home and away teams) will only be allowed inside SF State's Main Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza for basketball games. Thee four individuals are to be declared by the competing student-athletes and/or coaches prior to each contest.
Prior to entering the facility on the campus of San Francisco State, all spectators age 12 and over will be required to provide proof of vaccination using California's Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult. You can view the complete release of SF State's modified spectator policy

CSUEB (3-9, 1-5 CCAA) has had its last three home games canceled against Chico State on Jan. 6, Stanislaus State on Jan. 8 and Cal Maritime on Jan. 11 due to COVID protocols, and in accordance with California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) policy.
All three games were declared a 'no contest,' meaning the games will not be reflected on either teams' win-loss record, and will not be rescheduled.
On December 31, the CCAA announced a modified COVID-19 policy for
canceled games. For the 2021–22 season, games canceled due to COVID-related circumstances will now be declared a 'no contest' rather than a 'forfeit.' This policy also applies to any conference basketball games that were previously ruled a forfeit prior to the change of policy.
The cancellations were made in consideration of the recent surge of the Omicron variant, which is impacting fully-vaccinated individuals. They also align with NCAA standards.
Cal State East Bay has won three of its last four meetings against SF State, including the last two matchups played in San Francisco.
The Pioneers have the CCAA's sixth-best scoring offense, averaging 73.7 points per game, and are second in the conference in assists per game (15.58).
Senior forward
Zafir Williams ranks seventh in the CCAA averaging 15.4 points per contest and has the second-best free-throw percentage in the conference (.879). Meanwhile, junior guard
Jesse Galloway ranks third in the conference in assists per game (4.3) and has the CCAA's second-best assist-to-turnover ratio (2.8).
East Bay (3-9, 1-5 CCAA) is coming off a road defeat at Cal State Dominguez Hills, 73-56, on New Year's Day. Senior forward
Justin Vigil scored 13 points with nine rebounds, while junior forward
Tone Patton scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting to go with five rebounds for the Pioneers.
