GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Cal State East Bay senior
Drishti Karumbaya tied for first place and was the runner-up in a seven-hole playoff on Tuesday at this week's RJGA Shootout at Estrella Golf Club.
Karumbaya led the Cal State East Bay women's golf team to a fifth-place team finish by shooting a 143 (-1) for the two-day event, including a tournament-best 68 during the first round on Monday.
A native of Mysore, India, Karumbaya finished in a three-way tie for first through 18 holes with Point Loma's Raquel Prado and Breann Horn of Cal State San Marcos. It took seven playoff holes to eventually decide the champion between Karumbaya and eventual winner Prado.
Senior
Caroline Berge finished second among Pioneers and sixth overall, shooting a 145 (+1) over the two-day stretch. The Stavenger, Norway native shot an even par 72 over the final 18 holes to close play on Tuesday.
Junior
Gabbie Puspoki finished tied for 51st (160/+16), senior
Arrianna Custodio was tied for 63rd (162/+18) and Junior
Cassandra Puspoki finished tied for 83rd place (168/+24).
CSUEB returns to action on Oct. 4, as the Pioneers continue Fall play at the Sonoma State Invitational held at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club.
