SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay volleyball team dropped a hard-fought road contest against No. 12-ranked Cal State San Bernardino, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-17), on Friday evening at Coussoulis Arena.
Junior
Breyan Ashley led the Pioneers with 11 kills to go along with six digs, sophomore
Mia Jordan finished with eight kills and two blocks, sophomore setter
Megan Crecelius tallied 29 assists and junior
Kara Green added four kills with 10 digs and two blocks.
CSUEB (5-6, 0-3 CCAA) played well against the 2019 national championships, especially in the second set, as the Pioneers jumped out to an early 8-6 advantage and later led 15-13 after a spike by Jordan.
However, a late 4-0 run by CSU San Bernardino (8-4, 3-0) helped the Coyotes win the second set.
East Bay again took an early lead, 3-0, to begin the third set, but another four-point run by San Bernardino made it 12-9 and put the Coyotes ahead for good.
CSUEB returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 25, as the Pioneers continue their two-match road trip against No. 24-ranked Cal Poly Pomona at 3 p.m.
