HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay volleyball team wrapped up action in the Hawaii Challenge with a pair of matches against Saint Martin's and the tournament host Chaminade. The Pioneers picked up a 3-1 victory over the Saints before ending the their play in the Aloha State with a 3-0 defeat to the Silverswords.

With the split, the Pioneers move to 5-3 on the season including a 2-2 mark in the Hawaii Challenge. The Pioneers captured a 3-1 victory over the Saints (25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 23-25, 25-19) as they were led by
Breyan Ashley's fifth consecutive double-double notching 18 kills and 16 digs, both team high marks to go along with two aces. Ashley was not the lone Pio to capture a double-double as freshman
Peyton Griffin tallied her first career double-double with 38 assists and 11 digs, both season high marks.

Mia Jordan turned in a great performance as she recorded a season high 17 kills on .412 hitting percentage. Jordan also added two blocks. Freshman
Alexandria Gloria turned in seven kills, a team high four aces and five digs.
Chloe Ortega finished the match with 15 digs and two assists.

Kara Green added 12 digs, four kills and a block while
Taylor Miche chipped in 10 digs.

In the Pioneers final game of the tournament, they fell in a 3-0 sweep to the Chaminade Silverswords (15-25, 13-25, 12-25).
Breyan Ashley recorded seven kills and seven digs while
Peyton Griffin finished with ten assists, three kills and two digs.
Alexandria Gloria turned in three kills and two digs while
Kara Green compiled five digs and a kill.

Mia Jordan finished second on the squad with four kills to go with a block and a dig. Freshman
Taylor Miche notched seven digs and
Megan Crecelius added five assists, a block and a dig.

East Bay will return to action with a pair of home matches against rivals San Francisco State and Monterey Bay on September 16th and 18th.
