HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay volleyball team started strong in its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener on Thursday night, but was unable to keep its momentum going in a loss to San Francisco State, 3-1 (25-14, 19-25, 12-25, 14-25).
CSUEB (5-4, 0-1) had won three of its last five matches entering Thursday, and appeared to keep its momentum going with a first-set victory, 25-14. East Bay took a commanding 13-6 lead in the first set, and eventually led 21-11.
Freshman
Alexandria Gloria led the Pioneers with 11 kills, while junior
Breyan Ashley added 10 kills and sophomore
Mia Jordan finished with nine. Ashley also recorded a team-high 17 digs and sophomore
Megan Crecelius had 31 assists.
CSUEB returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 18, as the Pioneers play host to another rival Cal State Monterey Bay beginning at 7 p.m.
