HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay volleyball team found itself in a back-and-forth battle with Sonoma State on Thursday night, before falling short in five sets, 3-2 (25-20, 21-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-11) at Pioneer Gym.
CSUEB (6-9, 1-6 CCAA) was led by 12 kills apiece by sophomore
Mia Jordan and juinor
Breyan Ashley, while freshman
Alexandria Gloria added 11 kills. Freshman libero
Taylor Miche racked up 16 digs and redshirt freshman setter
Megan Crecelius tallied 31 assists.
After dropping the first set, the Pioneers rebounded to take the second and led late in the third set before Sonoma State rallied to win 26-24 to take a 2-1 advantage. East Bay bounced back with a 25-21 win in the fourth set, and despite trailing only 9-7 in the fifth, couldn't get over the hump to pull out the match victory.
CSUEB continues its homestand on Saturday, Oct. 9, as it plays host to Humboldt State beginning at 3 p.m.
