Pios' Comeback Attempt Comes Up Short at Stan State, 3-1

TURLOCK, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay volleyball team had its late rally fall just a bit short on the road Saturday evening, as the Pioneers dropped a match at Stanislaus State, 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 18-25, 29-27).

After falling behind 2-0 after two sets, East Bay responded with a flurry to win the third set convincingly, 25-18, and eventually pushed Stan State to a match-point tiebreaker final score of 29-27 in the clinching fourth set.

Junior Breyan Ashley had a big night with 13 kills and 14 digs, while senior Steena Hubbard recorded a season-high five blocks and redshirt freshman setter Megan Crecelius finished with 30 assists.

CSUEB (8-14, 3-11 CCAA) returns to Pioneer Gym next week for its final two home matches of the season on Thursday, Nov. 4 against Cal Poly Pomona, and Saturday, Nov. 6 against Cal State San Bernardino.
