KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Cal State East Bay men's and women's soccer programs have earned United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award honors, as student-athletes are recognized for their performance in the classroom during the 2019-20 academic year.
The Pioneer men earned the accolade for the first time, while the Pioneer women received the award for the fifth time overall (2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2020).
A total of 889 college teams (333 men, 556 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 176 schools who had both their men's and women's programs recognized. You can view the full United Soccer Coaches release here.
East Bay previously had a total of 19 men and women's soccer players named California College Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic for 2019-20, as well as seven women's soccer players earn 2019-20 Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Awards.
United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2019-20 academic year.
