CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cal State East Bay athletics had 50 student-athletes earn 2019-20 Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Awards, the organization announced on Thursday.

It is the 13th year of the program, which recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. In all, there were a record total of 15,214 student-athletes across 200 institutions who garnered the accolade.

In order for a student-athlete to receive the honor they must have a grade-point-average (GPA) of at least 3.5, have attended a minimum of two years of college-level work and were an active member of an intercollegiate team during the last academic year. You can view the full D2 ADA release here.

"In a year when we can use all of the good news, the D2 ADA Officers and Board of Directors are proud to recognize the highest number of student-athletes with the Academic Achievement Award than ever before," said D2 ADA President JR Smith, director of athletics at Chadron State College. "The nominations also came from a record number of institutions, showcasing the passion and dedication of our Association and Division II as a whole."

Recently, Cal State East Bay had a record 95 student-athletes named CCAA All-Academic for  2019-20. Earlier this year, the Pioneers had a record 131 student-athletes named to the CCAA Spring All-Academic Team, a conference-best 14 earn CCAA Winter All-Academic honors and 33 garner CCAA Fall All-Academic.
