Duquette, who has a 4.0 GPA in early childhood education, joins water polo senior
Auriel Bill as Pioneers to receive Academic All-America honors this academic year. Bill was named to the Women's At-Large Third Team on June 18.
A native of Claremont, Calif., Duquette was set to embark on her senior season for the Pioneers and looking to build on momentum from 2019 where she placed second overall in the 800-meter at the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships and 15th at the NCAA Championships.
In the process, Duquette became the first CSUEB female to compete in the Division II National Championships since 2014, and the first Pioneer of the CCAA era (since 2009) to qualify for the NCAA meet in a track event.
In addition, Duquette's personal-best time of 2-minutes, 10.91-seconds in the 800 ranks No. 5 in program history. The senior intends to return to the team in 2021.
The 15 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II women's track/cross country first team members hold a composite 3.95 GPA. Twenty-four members of the 45-player first, second and third teams honorees hold a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA. In addition, 13 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II women's track/cross country selections are repeat picks from the 2018-19 honor listing, including one student-athlete making the 2017-18 team.
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
