SEASIDE, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay baseball team dropped both ends of their "Battle of the Bays" doubleheader to rival Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday afternoon at CSUMB Baseball Complex.

The Pioneers now stand at 11-8 overall on the season with a 7-8 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) after falling to the Otters, 19-4 and 5-3.

In the opening game Monterey Bay opened the scoring early with nine runs in the opening two innings before scoring 10 more runs from the fifth through eighth innings. In total, the Pioneers racked up 15 total hits.
AJ Curtis finished with three hits, including a double with two runs while drawing a walk.
Omar Sanchez racked up three hits, three RBI and with a double of his own.

Jordan Macias notched two hits with two runs scored and
Kaleb Keelean added two hits, one being a double with and one walk drawn.
Jordan Sadovia added two hits of his own.

Dylan Dudley (L, 0-1) got the start on the hill for the Pioneers and compiled two strikeouts.
Garrison Finck,
Ryan Robinson,
Shane Cancilla and
Tristin Tatum all saw action out of the bullpen. Cancilla recorded one strikeout to add to his season total.

The doubleheader finale feature far less scoring but it was not for lack of offense as the Pioneers finished with eight hits and the Otter notched nine hits.

Sanchez recroded his second multi-hit performance of the day pacing CSUEB with two hits and an RBI. Macias collected a double while Curtis tallied a hit, a run and an RBI.
Ryan McSwain also chipped in an RBI while Keelean,
Francisco Pedraza and
Tim O'Dalaigh both added one hit each.

Brian Martinez (L, 2-1) registered four strikeouts through five innings of action while forcing five groundouts and four fly outs.
Mark Woinarowicz closed the game on the mound for the Pioneers retiring two batters while not allowing any run nor walking any batters.

East Bay and Monterey Bay will wrap up their "Battle of the Bays" matchup with a series finale on Sunday at Pioneer Baseball Field at noon. Â
