CHICO, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay baseball team concluded the their four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) with a 6-3 victory over Chico State Sunday afternoon at Nettleton Field.

With the victory, the Pioneers improve to 11-5 overall on the season with a 7-5 mark in CCAA action and avoid the four-game series sweep to the Wildcats.

East Bay found their bats from the opening pitch and got the scoring stated early takin a 4-0 lead after the first two innings of play.

In total, five different CSUEB players racked up multi-hit performances led by
Ryan McSwain's three hits, including a double and a triple, while scoring two runs.
Samuel Esparza notched two hits, with a double, an RBI and scored a run.
AJ Curtis finished a terrific weekend in Chico with two hits, an RBI, a run scored while drawing one walk.

Jordan Macias finished with two hits, one being a double, an RBI and a walk drawn.
Tim O'Dalaigh collected two hits for the Pioneers as well.

Ransome Alexander (W, 3-0) garnered his team-leading third win after opening the contest on the mound for the for CSUEB. The senior from Fullerton tossed 5.0 innings collecting two strikeouts while forcing seven groundouts and five fly outs.

The Wildcats would try to rally back in the ballgame with two runs of their own in the third to close the East Bay lead to 4-2. But after a few scoreless innings the Pioneers would extend their lead to 6-2 with two more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Chico State would tally one final run in the bottom of the ninth but East Bay ultimately walked away with a 6-3 win.

Robert Lujan led the East Bay with two RBI to go along with a hit.
Kaleb Keelean added a hit, an RBI and scored a run while
Francisco Pedraza chipped in a hit and scored a run.

Kyle Basch saw 2.2 innings of work on the hill and registered two strikeouts of his own. Utility man
Adrian Padilla saw his first action of the season on the mound and hurled one inning while recording his first career strikeout as a Pioneer.
Mark Woinarowicz (S,1) logged his first save of the season has he closed the game of CSUEB and helped get the final out of the series.

The Pioneers will return to action with a home and away "Battle of the Bays" series against Cal State Monterey Bay next week.
