HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team is back to the its winning ways after thrilling, 71-67 overtime victory over Chico State inside Pioneer Gymnasium Thursday night.

With the win, the Pioneers snap a three game losing skid to improve to 14-7 on the season with a 10-5 showing in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action.

In a contest that featured double digit leads from both teams, it was no surprise that this game would come down to the wire. With the Pioneers trailing 58-61 in regulation with just ten seconds to play senior guard
Kayley Hsiung would have a costly turnover as she lost the ball out of bounds. But Hsiung would makeup for her error. After a Chico State timeout and the Wildcats inbounding the ball,
Faith Turner deflected the pass as
Madison Schiller scooped the lose ball and passed ahead to Hsiung. And with four seconds on the clock, Hsiung pulled up an knocked down the game-tying three-pointer from 35 feet out to send the game into overtime.

With momentum on their side after the huge shot from Hsiung, CSUEB would outscore Chico State 10-6 in the extra period to secure the league victory. The senior from Bakersfield finished with nine points, two rebounds, a steal, an assist and a block.

The East Bay defense was suffocating late in the ballgame as they held Chico State to just 14 points over the final 18 minutes of the game. In all, the Pios held the Wildcats to just 22 percent shooting in the fourth quarter and overtime. CSUEB also forced 16 turnovers that converted into 18 points for the Pioneers. East Bay shot 60 percent from the floor in overtime and went 83 percent from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter and in overtime.

A pair of Pioneer freshmen notched new career high scoring marks in the win.
Zhane Duckett played a solid ballgame on both ends of the floor compiling 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including 7-of-8 from the foul line. The Oakland native tied a career-high mark with five assists to go along with five rebounds and five steals in 35 minutes of action.
Mina Tameliau also recorded 15 points and five rebounds while going a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe in 16 minutes off the bench.

Despite being out rebounded 40-34 for the contest, East Bay did make their presence known inside the painted area as they narrowly outscored Chico State 30-28 in paint points.
Faith Turner was a force down inside for the Pios as she racked up 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds on 6-of-8 shooting with two steals and a block.
Morgan Greene contributed 11 points and six rebounds on 3-of-6 shooting from the floor and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.

Madison Schiller accounted for nine points, three rebounds and two huge steals on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. Schiller also sealed the game for the Pioneers by converting a late foul shot in overtime to put the Pioneers ahead four points with four second to play.

East Bay will have the rest of the week off hitting the road next week for a pair of game against So. Cal opponents Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A.
