HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team concluded its three-game home stand with a tough, 57-54 loss to the visiting Sonoma State Seawolves Saturday afternoon inside Pioneer Gymnasium.

For the Pioneers, it was just their first home defeat of the season, as they move to 13-5 overall on the season with an 9-3 showing in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) contests. In total, CSUEB has only lost three of its last 15 games.

The Pioneers shot just 36.2 percent from the floor, their fourth-lowest of the season. CSUEB had trouble converting shots down the stretch of the game as they went 1-of-14 from the field in the fourth quarter, including 0-of-6 from three-point range.

East Bay however did hold Sonoma State to just 35.3 percent shooting for the game. The Pioneer defense also forced the Seawolves into 25 turnovers, they they turned into 24 points.

Despite their shooting woes, the Pioneers outscored the Seawolves, 23-14 in the opening quarter and led Sonoma State by one point at the half. East Bay was dominate inside the paint as they outscored Sonoma State, 32-20 inside the painted area. But it would be the Saewolves who walked away with rebounding advantage over East Bay 35-32 for the ball game.

Faith Turner paced the Pioneers with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field. Turner added two rebounds, two blocks and a steal while convert both her foul shots in 24 minutes of action.
Kayley Hsiung finished with nine points on three made three-point field goals with three rebounds, two steals and a block on a team-best 33 minutes.
Morgan Greene also notched nine points with a team-high 10 rebounds on 4-of-6 shooting. Greene now has three consecutive games of 10 or more rebounds.

Regina Sankey led the Pioneer reserves with eight points and four rebounds. Sankey shot 3-of-5 from the field while adding two assists and a steal.
Celeste Almendarez compiled seven points, three rebounds and two steals in 22 minutes.
Zhane Duckett tallied six points, three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals for East Bay.

The Pioneers will return to action with a two-game road trip where they will face Humboldt State and Stanislaus State.
