HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team completed the "Bay Bridge Battle" season sweep over San Francisco State with a 63-52 victory Thursday night inside Pioneer Gymnasium.

With the win, the Pioneers remain in the catbird seat of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women's basketball standings with a 13-4 overall record on the season and 9-2 mark in league play. For the Pioneers, this is the third season sweep of the Gators in the last four years.

Despite the victory, the Pioneers got off to a bit of a shaky start as they trailed the Gators, 33-23 at the halftime intermission. East Bay would fall behind by as many as 13 in the first half as the Pios tallied 10 first-half turnovers.

But the Pioneers found their stride and their defense in the second half. CSUEB started the third quarter on a 7-0 run to chop the SFSU lead down to just three points at the 8:36 mark of the quarter. In total, the East Bay stifling defense would hold the SF State offense to just four made field goals in the second half on 16 percent shooting from the floor. The Pioneers also forced 18 total turnovers from the Gators that they converted into 16 points.

East Bay would go on to outscore SF State, 24-10 in the third quarter and 40-19 for the entire second half. The Pioneer reserves would show up huge as they produced 23 points to just six points from the Gator bench.
Zhane Duckett turned in a solid overall performance with 11 points on a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line with five rebounds and a team-best four assists. Duckett was a force on the defense end as she continually applied pressure to the SFSU ball handlers for all of her 27 minutes on the floor.

Cal State East Bay dominated where it mattered the most as they outscored San Francisco State, 28-16 on points inside the painted area. The Pios also out rebounded the Gators, 39-26 for the contest.
Morgan Greene once again was a force on the glass as she corralled a game-high 12 rebounds to go with her four points and two blocks. This was Greene's second consecutive contest with double figure rebounds and her seventh overall on the season.

Faith Turner paced the Pioneers with 12 points on the perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the floor. Turner chipped in five rebounds and a game-high three blocks while knocking down both of her foul shots. Seniors
Kayley Hsiung and
Madison Schiller both swiped three steals each to lead CSUEB. Hsiung notched nine points on two made three-pointers with two assists, two rebounds and a block. Schiller finished with eight points, four rebounds and three assists.

East Bay will continue it's home stand with a Saturday matinee against Sonoma State. Tip off is at 1 p.m. inside Pioneer Gymnasium.
