East Bay Volleyball Upended by Stanislaus State, 3-1 in Four Frames

HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team concluded their home weekend slate with a tough 3-1 loss to the visiting Stanislaus State Warriors Saturday night inside Pioneer Gymnasium.
 
Despite the loss, the Pioneers picked up their first set win in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action. East Bay moves to 1-11 on the season with an 0-4 mark in conference play.
 
The Pioneers started the game on fire jumping out to a commanding 15-5 lead in the opening set of action. CSUEB would continue their aggressive play en route to a 25-15 set victory.
 
East Bay got off to an excellent start in the second set taking a 23-18 advantage. But the Warriors would rattle off six consecutive points to claim a 24-23 lead. The back and forth play would end with a 27-25 set victory for Stanislaus State. The final two set went to the Warriors as they left Hayward with a 3-1 match victory.
 
Freshman Kara Green compiled a double double in the match leading the Pioneers with 15 kills, tying a career-high mark. Green also notched 15 digs and 16.5 total points. Eliza Cannon also racked up a double double with 33 assists and 15 digs.
 
Kelly Jing-min Markham turned in a solid overall performance finished the match with a game-high nine blocks, six kills and 13 total points. Tayler Templeman also tallied six kills for CSUEB to go along with seven digs and 6.5 points. Tiana Weeks had five kills, five digs, two blocks and six points.
 
Sarah Stevelinck finished with a game high 25 digs with six assists and two points. Natahlee Wilson chipped in 11 digs in the match.
 
The Pioneers will have a quick turnaround as they will travel north to face Chico State on Tuesday night, before retuning home with a contest against San Francisco State.
