Pioneer Women's Golf Places 11th at the RJGA Shootout

GOODYEAR, Ariz., -- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team kicked off the 2019-20 season competing at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella at the Golf Course of Estrella.
 
The Pioneers finished with 630 total as they notched a 11th place finish after shooting a 310 in the opening round before concluding the weekend with a 320. East Bay placed one spot behind Chico and two slots ahead of Cal State L.A.
 
Sophomore Drishti Karumbaya led the way with an outstanding showing with and a share of the 9th place finish. Karumbaya opened the tournament with a 74 before wrapping up the week by shooting 78. She totaled a 152 for the tournament.
 
Junior Jojo Roecker, like Karumbaya opened the tournament by shooting 74 in the first round. Roecker collected a share of 28th place after shooting an 81 in the final round. Roecker finished just two strokes behind Karumbaya, with a 155.
 
Senior Mika Fang concluded the week with a 158 total after both rounds, good for a share of 49th place. Fang opened the tournament shooting a 78 in the first round before finishing the week with an 80.
 
Freshman Alexis Esgeurra, a native of Alameda, tied for a 66th finish as she totaled a 165 for the tournament. She shot a 84 to open the week followed by a 81 in the final round.
 
Sachika Singh rounded out all the participating Pioneers by shooting an 86 to open play and finishing with a 90 to close the week. Singh placed 86th and shot a 176 for the tournament.
 
The Pioneers will look to capitalize on this momentum as they travel to Howey in the Hills, Florida to take on some of the better teams in the country at the Golfweek Division II Fall Preview taking place October 5-8.
