LOS ANGELES – The Cal State East Bay women's volleyball team concluded their run at the D2 West Region Showcase with a 3-1 loss to Azuza Pacific on Saturday night.
With the loss the Pioneers move to 1-7 season as they ended the tournament with a 1-3 mark overall.
The Pioneers got off an excellent start, dominating the first set. The Pioneers would go on several runs of three secure the opening set victory. In their first set win Cal State East Bay out-hit Azuza Pacific .325 to .102. But the Cougars would roar back into the contest as they swept the next three sets, out-shooting the Pioneers .308 to .123 for the contest.
Sarah Stevelinck played a great match for CSUEB, racking up 27 digs for the Pios. Stevelinck now has five consecutive games with double figure digs.
Tiana Weeks turned is a solid overall match finishing with 12 digs, eight kills and 10 total points.
Kara Green led Cal State East Bay with nine kills to go along with three digs and 11 total points.
Steena Hubbard finished with seven kills and 13 total points.
Tayler Templeman added five kills and six points and Kelly Jing-Markham chipped in four kills and 4.5 points.
Audrey Lamoureux tallied double figure digs with 10 total digs in the contest.
Natahlee Wilson compiled nine digs for the match.
Eliza Cannon was tops of the Pioneers with nine assists.
The Pioneers will return to action with their 2019 home opener against CCAA rival UC San Diego on Friday night, Sept. 20 at Pioneer Gymnasium.
