CERES, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2019 season with a solid showing at the annual Kim Duyst Invitational Saturday night.

The men's team finished the meet with an 5th place finish.

Bryan Llopis was outstanding for Cal State East Bay, leading all Pioneer runners with a 13th place finish. Llopis clocked a time of 25:27.2, which ranks among the top-15 times in program history.

John Robert Bradshaw notched a 30th place individual finish for the Pioneers. He ran the 8k course at River Oaks Golf Course in 25:57.7.

Jeremy Shaw and
Oscar Mora completed the course with back-to-back finishes in 33rd and 34th places respectively. Shaw completed the course in a time of 26:05 and Mora was not too far behind in a time of 26:09.

Luke Calubayan turned in a 36th place finish at the meet finishing in a time of 26:15.
Jared Berryman rounded out the East Bay runners as he finished in 49th place overall at a time of 27:10.

On the women's side, newcomer
Lauryn Orozco was the lone runner for the Pioneer women finishing the 6k course in a time of 23:49, good for 33rd place overall.

The Pioneer women will head to Missouri for a meet at Missouri Southern State University, September 21 before meeting up with the men's team at the Sacramento State meet of September 28.
