LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay baseball team wrapped up their final road game of the season with a 12-6 loss to Cal State L.A. Sunday afternoon at Reeder Field. The Pioneers left Southern California with a 3-1 series victory, as they have now seven of their last 10 meetings against the Golden Eagles.

The loss snaps a season-best seven game win streak for East Bay as they continue to make a push toward the postseason. The Pioneers are 19-21 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action as they approach the final week of the season.

Senior infielder
Dakota Conners (Manteca, Calif.) finished the outing with a season best four hits, including two doubles. Conners is now .327 across 27 league games as he helped bring in the Pios first run of the game with an RBI and scored a run of his own in the fifth.

Kyle Basch (San Carlos, Calif.,) got the start on the mound for the Pioneers and only allowed three hits and three runs.
Jacob Nelson (L, 0-3) (Jefferson, Wisc.) took over in the third inning as he tied a season-high with seven punch outs. Nelson now has 35 strikeouts on the season which is good for second amongst the Pioneers staff.

East Bay trailed early as CSULA took a 4-2 lead into the fifth inning which happened to be the most productive inning for the Pios offensively. Conners knocked a one-out double into left center field and advanced to third on a groundout to put CSUEB is scoring positon. With two outs on the scoreboard,
Ryan McSwain (Redwood City, Calif.) crushed an RBI single to left center and followed by stealing second base. In the next at-bat senior
Kyosuke Ushimaru (Tokyo, Japan) doubled down the left field line to bring home McSwain. Ushimaru would later score on an CSULA error to tie the game at 5-5.

Ryan McSwain finished with a hit, an RBI, scored a run and picked up a stolen base for the Pioneers. McSwain compiled a hit in three of the four games this series.
Kyosuke Ushimaru compiled two hits, including a double, a RBI and a stolen base. Ushimaru rounded the weekend with three doubles against the Golden Eagles.

The Pioneers added one final run in the top of the sixth inning but the Golden Eagles rattled off seven run through the next three innings to claim the victory.

Omar Sanchez (Winton, Calif.) tallied two hits, an RBI and scored a run. Sanchez has recorded a hit in 12 straight games.
Steve Robinson (Yuba City, Calif.) chipped in a hit and an RBI, as he is currently second on the team with 37 RBIs.
Matt Cantelme (Fair Oaks, Calif.) registered a hit, his 21st of the season and
Ryan Thomasy (Redding, Calif.) scored his 12th run of the year.

Ethan Brodsky (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and
Ransome Alexander (Fullerton, Calif.) both hurled an inning on the mound for East Bay. Brodsky did not give up any runs with two walks in his outing and Alexander gave up three runs in his inning on the mound.
Matt Woinarowicz (Yorba Linda, Calif.) forced the final groundout of the game for CSUEB.

The Pioneers will return to Hayward for their final regular season home series against UCSD with postseason implications at stake. East Bay will also be celebrating Senior Day of the final game of the series.
