HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team jumps back into California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play this week with a home and road contest this week.
The Pioneers will play host to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday, Dec. 5, before taking a short trip across the Bay to face local foe San Francisco State on Saturday, Dec. 7. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m., and will be streamed live.
Cal State East Bay (5-3, 1-1 CCAA) is looking to build off last week's efforts, as the Pioneers split two non-conference contests during Thanksgiving week.
CSUEB earned a key road victory at Saint Martin's, 89-83, on Nov. 27, and suffered a narrow loss to Fresno Pacific on Nov. 30.
Junior forward
Zafir Williams averaged a double-double during the two-game stretch, recording 21 points with a season-high 13 rebounds and three assists at Saint Martin's and followed it up with a 25 point, 10-rebound and two-block performance against Fresno Pacific. The Long Beach native also went 14-for-15 from the free-throw line against FPU.
Williams leads the CCAA this season in points per game (22.0), and rebounds per game (10.0) while also leading the team in blocks and minutes played.
Thursday's home game against Cal State Dominguez Hills is themed "Finals Prep/Pizza Party Night" as Pioneer athletics will provide test-taking materials as well as free food for students in attendance.
