MONMOUTH, Ore., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team avenged last season's home opening blowout loss to Concordia University (Ore.) with a 67-55 victory in the Western Oregon Conference Challenge Friday afternoon in the NPE Building Gym.

East Bay earned a hard-fought victory over the Cavaliers with contributions from up and down the roster. It was fairly tight throughout, as East Bay executed efficiently on offense and defense, finishing with an advantage in field goal shooting of 46.9 while holding Concordia to just 33.3 percent.

The Pioneer defense held the Cavaliers to just seven points in the opening quarter, and after a three by
Kincso Kelemen made it a 7-4 game five minutes in Concordia never got the lead back the rest of the night.

Senior guard
Kincso Kelemen led all scorers with 14 points off the bench, as she made 4 of 8 threes while adding three rebounds and three assists. Kelemen led a Pioneer bench that outscored the Cavilers 27-17. Â In total, seven Pioneers had six or more points as CSUEB never managed less than 16 points in a quarter.

Morgan Greene had a team-best seven rebounds, on a night where the Pioneers dominated the glass 40-24. Greene added seven points on 3 of 4 shooting as East Bay totaled 28 points in the paint.
Madison Schiller led her team with seven assists to go along with her nine points and two blocks across 33 minutes of action.

Senior
Regina Sankey also notched nine points, hitting 4 of 5 shots from the floor with six rebounds and a steal. Fellow senior
Kayley Hsiung tallied nine points, three rebounds and two assists.

Mina Tameilau chipped in seven points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals as she went 4 of 8 from the foul line. East Bay as a team shot 57.1 percent from the charity stripe.
Celeste Almendarez collected six points, five rebounds and an assist.

Cal State East Bay is back on the court Saturday, with a 3:00 p.m. tipoff scheduled against tournament host Western Oregon.
