Zafir Williams scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Cal State East Bay men's basketball team to a season-opening road win over Holy Names, 74-62.
The Pioneers (1-0) jumped out to a 36-26 halftime advantage before holding on down the stretch. CSUEB overcame an eight-point deficit early in the game behind a 23-5 run to close the first half, highlighted by consecutive 3-pointers by Williams just before intermission.

Kaito Williams scored eight points with four assists.
Cal State East Bay finished with 16 assists and forced Holy Names (0-1) into 25 turnovers behind 16 steals.
