No. 22 Pioneers Race Impressively in Second Day of Quad Meet at UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif., -- The No.22 Cal State East Bay swim team was back at Schaal Aquatic Center Saturday morning as they wrapped up their Quad Meet weekend against Division I opponent US Davis, UC San Diego and conference foe Pepperdine.
 
The Pioneers once again found themselves on the losing end of the quad meet against some really talented competition. Similar to yesterday, despite not winning a race in the meet, CSUEB collectively turned in some impressive times.
 
The Tritons and the Aggies got things started as with first and fifth place finishes for UC San Diego and second and third place for UC Davis in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Allie Klinger, Tori Padilla, Victoria Zukeran and Isabel Rishwain notched sixth place with a time of 1:49.80.
 
Davis and San Diego also excelled in the next event, the 1000 Free, notching the top four finishers. Maddie Wittkowske was not very far behind in fifth place clocking a time of 10:55.71. Leah Robinson finished eighth in the race with a time of 11:11.98
 
In the 200 Free, East Bay swimmers recorded three of the top 10 spots led by Serene Augustain who placed seventh in a time of 1:57.49. Morgan Frank tied of an eighth place finish at 1:58.98 and Isabel Rishwain followed close behind for a 10th place finish touching the wall at 1:58.99.
 
Alondra Ortiz recorded a top 10 finish in the 100 Back, posting a time of 1:01.68. Landry Walker and Katrionna Furness finished back-to-back in 13th and 14th places, respectively.
 
In the 100 Breast, Pioneers Tori Padilla and Rebecca Bay earned points with ninth and 10th place finishes. Padilla touched the wall at 1:10.28 and Bay was right behind her clocking a 1:10.77.
 
Victoria Zukeran notched a top five finish in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:09.74. Sofia Moufarrej tallied eighth place in the race touching the wall in 2:12.71 and Kelee Shimizu was 10th in a time of 2:18.32.
 
In the next race, Allie Klinger registered points for CSUEB with a seventh place finish in the 50 Free in a time of 24.82. Klinger followed up that race with another top 10 finish in the 100 Free, clocking in at 54.96.
 
East Bay notched back-to-back top ten finishes in the next two events. Alondra Ortiz captured her second top ten finish I in the 200 Back where she touched the wall in the eighth place with a time of 2:12.26. Paige Branson logged a 11th place finish in 2:15.17. Rebecca Bay also tallied an eighth place finish in the 200 Breast clocking a time of 2:31.31.
 
A trio of Pioneers collected points for the squad in the 500 Free. Morgan Frank scored points with an eighth place finish at 5:17.62. Juniors Maddie Whittkowske and Landry Walker secured ninth and tenth places with times of 5:18.64 and 5:20.85.
In the 200 IM, Victoria Zukeran secured another top 5 finish touching the wall in 2:12.08. Morgan Frank logged a 10th place spot with a time of 2:17.59.
 
Landry Walker and Serene Augustain and notched back-to-back finishes in the 400 IM posting eight and ninth place finishes. Walker completed the race in 4:45.17 and Augustain clocked a time of 4:47.13.  
 
In the Pioneer final event of the season, the 400 Freestyle Relay, the foursome of Allie Klinger, Maddie Wittkowske, Isabel Rishwain and Serene Augustain recorded a fifth place finish in a time of 3:39.00.
 
East Bay will have a couple week off before returning to the pool for the annual Collegiate Winter Invitational at hosted by East Los Angeles College.
