DAVIS, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team saw its first action of the 2019-20 season on Friday night, falling on the road to UC Davis by a final score of 79-56 in an exhibition game.

The Pioneers struggled to get shots to fall, shooting 30.9% from the field (17-for-55) in the team's first of two competitive tune-ups before opening the regular season next weekend.

UC Davis was hot from the field, finishing at 51.7% from beyond the arc. However, East Bay did manage to outperform the Aggies at the charity stripe going 16-for-23 (69.6%) for the night, to just 11-for-18 (61.1%) for Davis.

Junior newcomer
Madison Adams finished as East Bay's leader scorer with 15 points. Adams went 6-for-9 from the floor, while going 3-for-6 from the three-point line through 18 minutes of action.

Madison Schiller tallied 13 points and six rebounds on 7-for-9 shooting from the foul line while also collecting two assists and a steal in 24 minutes.

Freshman
Celeste Almendarez compiled seven points and a team-best seven rebounds across a team-high 32 minutes.
Zhane Duckett finished with six points, three rebounds and two assists.

East Bay will take on Menlo College tomorrow night, Nov. 2 in their final exhibition contest of the season. The game will be held inside Pioneer Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.
