HAYWARD, Calif., -- The No. 22 ranked Cal State East Bay swim team is back in action this weekend with a quick trip to UC Santa Cruz for the Slug Shootout. The Pioneers will take part in a four-team dual meet at UCSC Pool on Friday afternoon before returning to Oakland the next morning to compete in the annual Bay Area Invitational at Trefethen Aquatic Center.

Friday's dual pits East Bay against Mills College, whom they defeated in head-to-head competition two weeks ago, as well as UC Santa Cruz, College of Idaho and conference rival Biola. Those same five squads will be in the pool Saturday for the Bay Area Invite fun as well.

The Pioneers have impressed in early-season action coming off strong showings in their duals meets against the University of the Pacific and Mills College. East Bay has also climbed the ranks of the collegeswimming.com polls as they are now ranked No. 13. Several CSUEB athletes are ranked in the top in the nation and conference.

- Junior Serene Augustain was named Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference (PCSC) Athlete of the Week for Division II (Oct 7-13).
- Augustain currently has the 64th best time in the 100 Free (54.37) and 50th best in the nation in the 200 IM (2:13.26).
- Senior Victoria Zukeran's time of 57.89 ranks 15th in the nation in the 100 fly and her time of 2:11.31 in 200 fly is 26th in the country. Also her 200 IM time of 2:14.20 is 67th best in the nation.
- Freshman Tori Padilla is 37th in the 50 Breast with a time of 32.55 and is currently sitting 60th in the 100 Breast event at a time of 1:08.85.
- Allie Klinger's time of 24.95 in the 50 free is 61st best in the nation.
- Alondra Ortiz's time of 2:12.46 ranks 52nd in the country in the 200 Back.Â
- Junior Landry Walker ranked 63rd in Division II with a time of 11:03.62 in the 1000 Free
- Freshman Leah Robinson one spot behind Walker in 64th spot in the 1000 Free with a time of 11:04.09.Â
-  Junior Peyton Wayment with a time of 11:04.95 is currently ranked 66th in the country in the 1000 Free.
- Sophomore Isabel Rishwain's time of 1:58.07 ranking 56th in the nation in the 200 Free.
- Freshman Morgan Frank's time of 1:58.21 in the 200 Free is good for 61st best in the country.Â
- Sophomore Rebecca Bay is currently 71st in the country in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:33.11.

This weekend begins a stretch in which CSUEB will compete five times over the next three months to wrap up their Fall schedule. After Friday's dual and Saturday's Invitational, the Pioneers visit UC Davis for a dual matchup on Nov. 1-2 before heading to SoCal for the three-day Collegiate Winter Invitational Nov. 30-Dec. 1. The Pioneers will then host Nevada in a head-to-head meet on Dec. 7 in Pioneer Pool.
