HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's soccer will return to Pioneer Stadium with California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) contests against Stanislaus State on Friday evening, September 21 at 7:00 pm and Chico State on Sunday afternoon, September 23 at 2:00 pm. All games will be held at Pioneer Stadium.

The Bay Area Online Sports Network will nationally broadcast East Bay's Sunday doubleheader against Chico State. The live broadcast will begin at 11:30 am for the women's game and continue throughout the men's match at 2:00 pm.

WEEK IN REVIEW
The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team opened California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) with a, 2-0 setback on the road to the San Marcos Cougars Friday afternoon, September 14 at The Cage.

It was the first loss of the season for the Pioneers as they move to 5-1-0 on the season with a 0-1-0 start in conference action. It was also the first match on the year in which CSUEB failed to score a goal. The Cougars improved to 2-2-1 on the season with the win.
Allison Smith (Elk Grove, Calif.),
Chace Miguel (Hollister, Calif.),
Kellie Murphy (Brea, Calif.),
Savannah Schultz (Folsom, Calif.) and
Liz Hernandez (Whittier, Calif.) all chipped in one shot apiece for East Bay. Smith, Miguel and Murphy's shots all came on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper
Briana Vasquez-Ortiz logged all 90 minutes in the goalie box for the Pioneers and recorded three saves bringing her season total to 19. This was just the second game of the season in which Vasquez-Ortiz did not record a shutout.

The Cal State East Bay women's soccer wrapped up their California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opening road trip with a, 2-1 defeat against UC San Diego on Sunday morning, September 16 at Triton Soccer Stadium.

With the loss the Pioneers move to 5-2 on the season with an 0-2 mark in conference action. The #2 ranked Tritons improve to 6-0-1 on the year with a 2-0 record in CCAA play.

Cal State East Bay answered with a goal of their own in the 47th minute as junior
Chace Miguel (Hollister, Calif.) netted a right-footed shot from 20 yards out that travels just over the Trition goalkeeper high into the goal. It was Miguel's second goal of the season as she received a deep pass from sophomore
Abby Buitrago (San Jose, Calif.). For Buitrago it was her first helper of the season.

The visiting Pioneers were out shot by the host Tritons 25-5 for the match with two shots on goal from East Bay and six shots on goal from UC San Diego.

The Pioneers got off to a 5-0 to the season which is the program's best start since joining the CCAA. Cal State East Bay has only allowed one goal through those five games.

Abby Buitrago (San Jose, Calif.) leads the Pioneers with four goals scored which is tied for third in the conference. Buitrago's nine points are also tied for third inn the CCAA and her three game-winning goals it tied for fourth in the nation.

Keionna Claypoole (Sacramento, Calif.) and
Jordan Lemieux (Bothell, Wash.) have two assists apiece to lead the Pioneers.

Briana Vasquez-Ortiz (Long Beach, Calif.) has racked up 23 saves and four shutouts. Vasquez-Ortiz is sixth the conference with a .714 goal per game average.

SCOUTING STANISLAUS STATE
The Stanislaus State Warriors are off a 4-2-1 mark to the season with a 1-1-0 record in CCAA play after defeating Cal State Dominguez Hills and falling to Cal State LA in double overtime. Ilena Rivera leads the Warriors with three goals and seven points. Mayah Chambers and Jenna Zuniga have both compiled two assists on the year. Haley Crook leads Stanislaus State with 30 saves which is tied for second in the CCAA.

SCOUTING CHICO STATE
The Chico State Wildcats enter into the weekend with a 2-0-4 mark on the season with a 1-0-1 record in conference play after tying Cal State LA and a win over Cal State Dominguez Hills. Erin Woods leads the Wildcats with three goals and six points on the season. Breana Meier has recorded two shutouts through four games with 11 saves. Vic Graham leads Chico State with 15 saves through two games.
