SONOMA, Calif.
-- Cal State East Bay closed out the inaugural California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Golf Championship on Wednesday by turning in the team's best score of the three-day tournament at Sonoma Golf Club to finish in fourth place.

The Pioneers posted a third-round total of 314 (+26) to finish the 54-hole stroke play event at 951 (+51), good enough to leapfrog Chico State in the team standings and finish nine strokes ahead of the fifth place Wildcats.

Cal State San Marcos captured the team championship running away, besting second-place Sonoma State by 19 strokes. They were led by freshman CCAA individual champion Jamie Jacob, who was four over par for the tournament.

The first ever CCAA All-Tournament Team was comprised of Jacob (+4), her CSUSM teammates Claire Hogle (+10) and Sarah Garcia (+11), Sonoma State's Sabrina Virtusio (+11), and Cal State East Bay junior Carolin Chang (+11).

Chang fired the lowest round of any golfer in the field on Wednesday, an even-par 72, to notch a share of third place individually. She made up six strokes on Jacob in the final round, but still fell seven strokes short with a total of 227 (+11).

The other four women who competed for the Pioneers were doing so for the last time, finally getting the chance to play in a conference championship event before closing out their collegiate careers.

Like Chang, Julia Youn improved her score each of the three days, carding 75 (+3) on Wednesday. She earned a share of seventh place individually with a total of 230 (+14).

Jamie Ekseki wrapped up a consistent performance this week with an 82 (+10). She and fellow senior Taylor Wyss ended up tied for 21st with identical totals of 248 (+32) for the tournament after Wyss stumbled with an 87 (+15) in the final round.

Senior Sienna Starck had by far her best day of the tournament, shooting an 85 (+13) to contribute the fourth score to CSUEB's team total. She finished 26th overall at 279 (+63).
