SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., -- The East Bay baseball team was narrowly edged out, 7-6 in their California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) road meeting against Cal State San Bernardino at an overcast Fiscalini Field on Saturday, March 3.

The Pioneers move to 6-6 in the early going of the 2018 season with a 3-3 mark in conference action.

In the second game of their four game road series the Pioneer found themselves down early in the ball game. But CSUEB would battle back to tie the contest up before the Coyotes ended the game with a RBI single in the final inning of action.

A trio of Pioneers turned in multi-hit performances on Saturday afternoon.
Evan Steele finished with two hits and a run scored.
Kyosuke Ushimaru notched two hits, a run, a RBI and a stolen base.
Joey Dice tallied two hits, including a double and a run scored.

Raymond Jones finished with two RBI and a double on the afternoon.
Jordan Estes also complied two RBI with a hits and a run scored.

Dakota Conners also registered a double to left field in the top of the sixth inning as he finished the day with a run scored.
Jacob Eder added a RBI and aa double for the Cal State East Bay.

The Pioneer pitching staff were solid throughout the afternoon with
Jacob Nelson as he retired three batters through 1.2 innings tossed.
RJ Hanson (L, 2-1) logged 4.2 innings on the mound and paced East Bay with four strikeouts.
Andrew Fernandez didn't give up any runs as he finished with two strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work.

The Pioneers and Coyotes will conclude their four game CCAA series with a Sunday doubleheader at Fiscalini Field slated for a 11:00 a.m. start.
