HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay softball team will return to the Hayward Hills for a four game California Collegiate Athletic (CCAA) home series against visiting Humboldt State this weekend at Pioneer Softball Field. Because of inclement weather the games have been pushed backed to doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.

The Pioneers are currently 9-17 on the season with a 5-15 mark in conference play.

WEEK IN REVIEW
The Pioneers are coming off a road series sweep by #25 UC San Diego last weekend.
Abby Greer (L, 3-7) (Beaverton, Ore.)Â got the start in the circle for East Bay and tossed a complete game recording two strikeouts while walking three Tritons batters and allowing three runs.

Offense for both teams came in spurts as the only runs for UC San Diego as three run home runs in the opening innings of action gave them host team an early 3-0 lead.

The Pioneers would battle back with runs in the in the sixth and seventh innings. But would ultimately fall short.

CSUEB Female Athlete of the Week
Sarah Fukushima (Sacramento, Calif.) led the Pioneers with two hits and a RBI.
Jennifer Palmares (Elk Grove, Calif.) was the only other East Bay player to register a multi-hit game with two hits.

Courtney Leyba (Huntington Beach, Calif.) tallied a hit and scored a run while
Maddie Ramirez (Chino Hills, Calif.) compiled a run to go along with a hit.
Bailee Glover (Reno, Nev.) finished with a hit and one RBI.

East Bay had trouble finding offense Friday afternoon as they only registered five hits in total during the doubleheader.

In the opening game
Bailee Glover (Reno, Nev.) logged the Pioneers only two hits including a double.
Courtney Leyba (Huntington Beach, Calif.) scored the lone run for East Bay as she stole home in the top of the seventh inning.

Sophomore pitcher
Olivia McWhorter (L, 2-3) (Cypress, Calif.) got the start for the Pioneers and tossed a complete game. McWhorter compiled one strikeout and did not walk any Triton batters.

In the doubleheader finale, the Pioneers were tied with the Tritons after the second inning of action. Sophomore
Abby Greer (L, 3-8) (Beaverton, Ore.) opening the game in the circle for East Bay and retired four UC San Diego batters through three innings.

Freshman
Taylor Lara (La Puente, Calif.) saw 1.1 innings of action as she finished with one strikeout and three walked batters.

Jennifer Palmares (Elk Grove, Calif.) led East Bay with a double in the top of the fifth inning.
Bailee Glover also compiled a hit for East Bay.

Desiree Jimmy (Los Angeles, Calif.) tallied a hit and scored the Pioneers only run of the game in the second inning.
Amanda Loya (Orangevale, Calif.) registered East Bay's lone RBI of the afternoon.

he Pioneer softball team concluded their four game road California Collegiate Athletic Association series against #25 UC San Diego with a 9-3 loss Saturday afternoon, March 10 at Triton Softball Field.

The Pioneers were able to find plenty of offense on Saturday as they compiled a series best 10 hits. East Bay found themselves down early as the Tritons jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after the opening two innings of action.

East Bay would pull within one run with two runs in the top of the third inning. But the home team would rally off five runs in the next to innings to secure the series finale win.

Courtney Leyba (Huntington Beach, Calif.) paced the Pioneers with three hits, including a double and a run scored.
Bailee Glover (Reno, Nev.) wrapped up a strong weekend in Southern California with another multi-hit performance finishing the afternoon with two hits and two RBI.

Maddie Ramirez (Chino Hills, Calif.) and
Bailee Aguigui (Vacaville, Calif.) also tallied multi-hit games Saturday afternoon. Ramirez added two hits and scored a run while Aguigui went 2-for-3 from the plate.

A trio of East Bay hurlers saw action in Saturday's series finale.
Olivia McWhorter (L, 2-4) (Cypress, Calif.) got the start and wen 2.0 innings with a strikeout and only one walked batter.
Bailee Glover also saw time in the circle finishing with a strikeout and only allowing one hit in 1.1 innings of action.
Abby Greer (Beaverton, Ore.) led the Pioneers with three strikeouts through 2.2 innings.

PIONEER POINTS
Offensively, sophomore
Jennifer Palmares is second on the Pioneers with a .319 average, .386 on-base percentage, 13 runs scored and is tied for second in the CCAA with six doubles. Freshman
Maddie Ramirez (.325 avg, 15 RBI, 10 extra base hits) has been a welcome addition. She leads CSUEB in batting average and RBI with 15. Junior
Courtney Leyba is also off to a productive start with a .270 average, 15 runs, 14 RBI, and seven extra base hits including a conference leading three triples.

All four Pioneers pitchers have contributed strong performances so far this year, resulting in a 3.56 team ERA.
Bailee Glover leads the team with three victories and a 4.60 ERA, while
Abby Greer boasts three shutouts, seven complete games and a 2.71 ERA in a team-high 72.1 innings.
Olivia McWhorter is 2-4 and after a tough start to the season, she has a 3.61 ERA so far on the season.

SCOUTING HUMBOLDT STATE
The Humboldt State Lumberjacks come into the weekend with a 12-9 record on the season with an 8-6 mark in CCAA action after going 3-1 in their series against Cal State San Marcos. Winona Vigil leads the Lumberjacks with a .390 batting average, 23 hits, four home runs and a .644 slugging percentage.
