LINCOLN, Calif.
-- The Cal State East Bay women's golf team finished in fifth place this week at the first tournament of the Spring season, the Mikuni Sushi Shootout hosted by Holy Names.

The Pioneers turned in team scored of 317 (+33) and 334 (+50) for a total of 617 (+83) at the two-day 36-hole event, beating Hawaii Pacific and Dominican and finishing 10 strokes behind fourth-place Sonoma State.

Carolin Chang led the Pioneers with a fourth place finish individually. The junior was tied for the overall lead after shooting 74 (+3) on Monday. She followed that up with 81 (+13) Tuesday to finish at 155 (+13), six strokes behind the winner.

Jamie Enseki was CSUEB's second finisher at the tournament thanks to a team-best score of 80 (+9) in the second round. She had the same score Monday for a total of 160 (+18), giving her a share of 12th place.

Julia Youn finished just outside the top 20 after carding 81-84 in the two rounds for a total score of 165 (+23). Youn ended up in a tie with teammate Sienna Starck, who was competing as an individual and turned in rounds of 80 and 85.

Taylor Wyss contributed to the team score with an 82 (+11) in round one, but she stumbled on Tuesday with an 89 (+18), putting her in 28th place in the overall field of 46 golfers at 171 (+29).

Hafsa Khan carded 87 (+16) on Monday, then matched Wyss with an 89 (+18) in the second round to finish tied for 34th at 176 (+34). She was three strokes behind Lulu Huang, who played as an individual and shot 88-85 to place 33rd at 173 (+31).
