HAYWARD, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay men's basketball sqaud will continue their series of road games with a visit to San Rafael, Calif., to take on Dominican University Tuesday evening, November 20 in the Conlan Center at 7:30 p.m.

East Bay is off to a 4-0 start to the season which is the program's best start since joining the California Collegiate Athletic Conference.

WEEK IN REVIEW
The Cal State East Bay basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season after collecting their first road victory of the 2018-19 campaign with a, 79-74 win over Academy of Art Wednesday night, November 14 in Kezar Pavilion.

East Bay and ART U both got off to a scorching hot first half shooting from the floor. The Urban Knights went 12-for-19 (68.2%) from the field while the visiting Pios shot 48.2% (13-for-27) from the field as both team headed into the intermission tied at 38-38.

The Pioneers defense was able to cool down the hot shooting Urban Knights to only 36 points in the second half on 37% (10-for-27) shooting from the floor. East Bay also held the Academy of Art starters to just 32 points on just 10-for-21 (47.6%) accuracy from the field.

But it was the ART U bench that kept them in the ball game as they outscored the CSUEB bench 43-15 for the contest. The home team Urban Knights also held the points in the paint advantage over the Pioneers, 32-24. But it was the Pioneers who dominated the glass outrebounding ART U, 38-26.

All together, the Pioneers had four players score in double figures for the contest. Junior
Ant Navarrete (San Lorenzo, Calif.) notched his second double double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The first year Pioneer went 5-for-9 from the field including a perfect 2-for-2 from the three-point line to go along with three assists and one steal.

Senior
Juwan Anderson (Oakland, Calif.) and
Patrick Marr (Clayton, Calif.) each poured in a game high 16 points in the win. Anderson logged a game best 33 minutes with three assists, two rebounds and a steal while going a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.

Marr shot 5-for-6 from the floor with including an impressive 2-for-2 from beyond the arc and 4-for-4 from the foul line. He grabbed six rebounds all on the offensive end to extend shots for East Bay.

Nai Carlisle (West Lafayette, Ind.) added 10 points while knocking down his lone three-point attempt and going 5-for-6 from the foul line. Carlisle added two rebounds and an assist on 23 minutes of action.

The Pioneers shot a season best 45% (9-for-20) from long range with four players connecting on at least two three-point field goals. Junior
Trent Warren (Melbourne, Australia) led the East Bay reserves with six points on 2-for-4 for from three-point range.

Evan Wardlow (Lake View Terrance, Calif.) compiled nine points on 4-for-8 shooting from the floor with three rebounds, two assists and a team high two steals in 29 minutes of action.

East Bay went 24-for-32 from the free throw line including 17-for-18 (94.4%) in the second half to ice the victory.

The Cal State East Bay men's basketball squad picked up a terrific come from behind, 73-66 road victory over Fresno Pacific Saturday evening, November 17.

With the win the Pioneers improve to 4-0 on the season for the first time in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

The Pios were lights out for the ball game, shooting north of 45% in both halves and for the contest. It was the fourth straight game in which CSUEB has shot over 40% accuracy from the field. Despite the hot shooting the Pioneers still found themselves down 39-33 at the intermission.

The outing featured seven lead changes and six ties as both teams led by nine throughout the contest. Four Pioneers notched double figure scoring outputs en route to the win.

Ant Navarrete (San Lorenzo, Calif.) logged his third double double of the season with 12 points and game high 14 rebounds on 6-for-9 shooting from the field. Navarrete finished with a steal an assist.

Evan Wardlow (Lake View Terrance, Calif.) tied a game-high with 16 points, his best scoring output as a Pioneer. Wardlow grabbed nine rebounds while going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe in 32 minutes of action.

Nai Carlisle (West Lafayette, Ind.) also compiled 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the, including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc on a team high 35 minutes of t action. Carlisle lead East Bay with four assists and tied the team lead with two steals.

Senior point guard
Juwan Anderson (Oakland, Calif.) tallied 13 points while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line. Anderson dished out three assists and grabbed two rebounds in 20 minutes of action.

The Pioneers outscored the Sunbirds 40-27 in the second half on 46.67% (14-for-30) from the the field. The East Bay defense was able to accumulate 18 points on 15 turnovers from Fresno Pacific while holding the host FPU to 33.3% (11-for-33) shooting from the field in the second half.

The battle in the painted area was tightly contested by both teams as both squads corralled 42 rebounds each. The Pioneers narrowly edged out the Sunbirds in paint points 30-28.

Patrick Marr (Clayton, Calif.) chipped in seven points with a career best four blocks, four rebounds and two steals.
Â
The Pioneer reserves also outscored the Fresno Pacific bench 9-5.
Trent Warren (Melbourne, Australia) led the Pios with five points in 15 minutes. Warren has knocked down at least one three-pointer in each game so far.

The Pioneers are ranked 3rd in the conference in defensive points allowed with 64.8 per game. The Pios are also shooting 77.7% from the charity stripe which is second in the CCAA while also ranking top five in rebounding offense and defense.

The Pioneers have six players averaging eight or more points per contest after the opening four games of the season. Senior guard
Juwan Anderson (Oakland, Calif.) is leading CSUEB with 14.5 points and 4.3 assists on 29.0 minutes per game. Anderson is also corralling 3.0 rebounds per outing while leading the Pios with six steals and shooting 89.7% (26-for-29) from the free throw line. He is currently third CCAA in assists.

Ant Navarrete (San Lorenzo, Calif.) Â is putting in 13.3 points while leading the team with 10.5 rebounds per game, which is good for 2nd in the league. He is also shooting 59.0% (23-for-39) from the field on 28.3 minutes per game. Navarrete is tied for fourth in the nation with three double doubles which is tops in the CCAA.

Nai Carlisle (West Lafayette, Ind.) is shooting a team-best 62.1% from the field while contributing 11.5 points per contest. Calisle is second on the team with five three-pointers made while shooting at a 50% clip. He has added 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per outing.

Patrick Marr (Clayton, Calif.) is compiling 9.5 points while tying for second on the squad grabbing 5.5 rebounds per game. Marr has started all four games while registering five blocks and shooting averages of 50% from the field, 44.4% from beyond the arc and 87.5% from the free throw line.

Evan Wardlow (Lake View Terrance, Calif.) is tallying 9.0 points per game while corralling 5.5 rebounds through for starts. Wardlow is playing 28.0 minutes per game while connecting on a team best 91% (10-for-11) from the free throw line.

Trent Warren (Melbourne, Australia) is pacing the Pioneer reserves with 8.3 points per game on 14.0 minutes off the bench. He is leading CSUEB with six three-point field goals made on 43% shooting.

SCOUTING DOMINICAN
The Dominican Penguins are 3-1 to start the season after defeating three CCAA teams in Sonoma State, Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Monterey Bay. Cedric Thomas is leading Dominican with 18.8 points and 6.8 rebounds. Christopher Williams II is adding 16 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
