ROHNERT PARK, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay women's basketball team narrowly fell in their final outing of their two-game weekend road trip with a, 56-55 loss to Sonoma State on Saturday evening, January 20 in the Wolves' Den.

The Pioneers move to 12-8 on the season with a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) mark of 8-6. East Bay and Sonoma State split the season series after the Pioneers picked up a, 58-51 victory in Pioneer Gymnasium to kickoff the 2018 year.

The Seawolves controlled the game from the opening tip as the Pioneers only led the game for less than two minutes of game time. For just the eighth time all season East Bay was outrebounded, 26-17 for the game. Sonoma State also held the points in the paint advantage over the Pioneers, 28-24.

Two-time CCAA women's basketball player of the year
Morgan Greene (Phoenix, Ariz.) was dominate again as she fell one rebound shy of a double double after posting a game high 19 points and nine points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field. Greene tied a season high with four assists while adding two steals and a block on 36 minutes.

The Pioneers shot 40.8% (20-for-49) from the field as a team while holding the Seawolves to 39.7% (23-for-58) accuracy from the floor. Sophomore guard
Elayshia Woolridge (Oakland, Calif.) was the only other Pioneer to score in double figures with 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field. Woolridge added three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 31 minutes of action while knocking down her lone three-point attempt of the contest.

East Bay found themselves down, 31-25 at the intermission but fought back to claim the second half advantage, 30-25. The free throw line proved to be a thorn in the Pioneers side as they only 57.8% (11-for-19) as a team from the charity stripe.

Senior
Bri Guillory (Long Beach, Calif.) led the Pioneer reserves with six points on 2-for-4 shooting from the field in 21 minutes of play.
Kayla Blair (Fairfield, Calif.) chipped in five points on go along with one rebound, one assist and two steals in 23 minutes.

East Bay will return to Pioneer Gymnasium with matchups against Cal Poly Pomona on January 26 and Cal State San Bernardino January 27.
