WEEK IN REVIEW
CSUEB is sitting 2-2-1 on the season after coming up on the opposite ends on two shutouts over the past week. The Pioneers picked up a 2-0 win over Southern Nazarene with two goals from Evan Sanchez. The Pioneers dominated the game from kickoff and controlled the tempo throughout the game. CSUEB was stout defensively as well stifling the Crimson Storm offensive push while only allowing Southern Nazarene to attempt four shots and two shots on goal for the entire game.

Evan Sanchez paced the Pioneers with his team-leading third and fourth goal of the season. This was the first multi-goal performance as a Pioneer. He is now tied for third in the CCAA (California Collegiate Athletic Association) with four goals and fourth in the conference with eight total points.

On Sunday, September 10 East Bay fell on Westminster College 3-0. From kickoff the Griffins controlled the tempo of the game and did a great job of neutralizing the East Bay offensive attack. East Bay finished with just two shots for the entire match as compared to 15 from the Griffins.

The Pioneers shots came from seniors Evan Sanchez, who had the lone shot at the frame for CSUEB, and TJ Butler.

 SANCHEZ'S SIZZLING START
CSUEB Senior Evan Sanchez, a native of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., leads the Pioneers with four goals and eight points so far on the season. The current Cal State East Bay Male Athlete of the Week for (Sept. 4-10) recorded is first multi-goal performance as a Pioneer in a 2-0 win over Southern Nazarene.

DOUBLE-STUFFING GOALIES

For Coronel, he has only given up one goal through 18 shots faced in two games. He leads CSUEB with a .857 save percentage and logged a career best four saves in a 1-1 tie against ARTU. Both goalies have recorded one shutout apiece on the season.
