 HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State men's basketball team will complete its 2016-17 regular season with a huge two game home stand. The Pioneers will take on #5 Chico State on Friday, February 24 which will be "Pink Night" for CSUEB. Then the Pioneers will wrap up their season with their "Senior Night" matchup against Stanislaus State on Saturday, February 25 in Pioneer Gymnasium.
 
For "Senior Night" the Pioneers will be honoring it's six seniors: Micah Dunhour, Jalen Richard, Pierre Carter, Lamine Mbodj, Paramvir Singh and Tre Mauldin.
 
This will be the Pioneers first time facing both Chico State and Stanislaus State this season.
 
East Bay's (12-14, 5-13 CCAA) 12 wins are the most division II wins in school history since the 97-98 season. East Bay's 12 wins are also the most wins since joining the CCAA in 2009. 
 
WEEK IN REVIEW
Senior forward Micah Dunhour led the Pioneers with a game high 29 points and 11 rebounds on 12-for-18 shooting from the field in East Bay's 70-63 setback loss to Cal State San Marcos on Saturday night, February 18 in The Sports Center.
 
Dunhour went a perfect 2-for-2 from three-point range and 3-for-4 from the free throw line with one steal in 38 minutes of action. It was Dunhour's seventh double double of the season as he has scored in double digits in 23 of the last 27 Pioneer games.
 
East Bay battled back in the second half after trailing 29-39 at the intermission, the largest lead for the Cougars. The Pioneers outscored the Cougars 34-31 in the second half behind 51.6 percent shooting from the field while limiting San Marcos to 30.4 shooting from the floor.
 
While the Pioneers dominated the painted area outrebounding the Cougars 40-24 and outscoring San Marcos in paint points 24-16. But the San Marcos' 29 points off 18 Pioneer turnovers proved to be one of the deciding factors in the game. The Cougars also went 38.9 percent from beyond the arc while the Pioneers finished 19.0 percent from three-point land.
 
The CSUEB bench helped bring the Pioneers back in the second half of action but outscoring the Cougar bench 21-6. East Bay would come back to tie the game six times and take a lead late in the second half.
 
PIONEER POINTS
East Bay has two players in the top-6 in scoring in the CCAA with senior Micah Dunhour currently 3rd in the conference with 16.5 points on 47.7 percent shooting from the floor, which ranks 6th. He is also 6th in the CCAA grabbing 6.8 boards per game. He is 8th in the conference with 31.8 minutes per game.
 
Dunhour leads East Bay with seven double doubles on the season and has scored in double figures in 23 out of the Pioneers last 27 games. He is 15.9 points and 6.4 rebounds on 47.1 percent shooting in conference action.
 
Senior guard Jalen Richard is 6th in the CCAA scoring at a 14.8 point per game clip. He is 18th in the conference racking up 5.8 boards per contest. He sits 5th in the CCAA 32.9 minutes per game. Richard is also shooting 35.6 percent from three-point land, and is sinking 2.5 made three-pointers per outing, 5th in the conference.
 
Richard is 4th in the CCAA in conference scoring with 16.6 points per game and has scored in double figures in 18 of the last 24 East Bay contests. He is tied for 6th all-time in three-pointers made in a career with 116. He is 67 points away from becoming a top ten scorer in Pioneer history.
 
Sophomore point guard Jalen Richard Juwan Anderson is 2nd in the CCAA with 4.0 assists and a 2.9 assists to turnover ratio, which leads the conference. Anderson has 122 assists and only 42 turnovers on the season. Anderson is within striking difference of the school record on 150 assists in a season, held by Michael Harris. He is averaging 5.1 assists in CCAA action.
 
Anderson is adding 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals. He is shooting 86.8 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Freshman wing Druce Asah is putting in 10.1 points per game on 41.1 percent accuracy from the field, including 38.7 percent from three-point range, 4th in the CCAA. Asah is averaging 1.8 made three-pointers per outing.
 
Senior Pierre Carter is leading the Pioneer bench with 7.1 points and 2.9 rebounds on 38.3 percent shooting from the field in 23.4 minutes of action per game.
 
Junior Drew Bender is propelling the Pioneer bench with 6.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Bender is second on the team shooting 85.7 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Junior center Kyle Frakes leads East Bay, shooting 63.3 percent from the field. Frakes is compiling 5.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest. Frakes has now moved into the top ten for career blocked shots (50) making him 8th all-time.
 
East Bay is 6th in the CCAA in scoring offense averaging 71.9 points per contest. The Pioneers are 10th in scoring defense allowing 72.8 points from opponents.
 
The Pioneers are 9th in the CCAA in field goal percentage, shooting 43.0 percent from the floor as a team.
 
CSUEB is 5th in the conference with 219 three-pointers made so far this season and sits 3rd in three-point field goal percentage defense holding opponents to 32.5 percent from long range.
 
East Bay is shooting 34.9 percent from beyond the arc, 8th in the CCAA. The Pioneers are averaging 8.5 made three-pointers per game, 5th in the conference.
 
The Pioneers are 8th in the conference in free throw percentage connecting on 70.3 percent of their foul shots as a team.
 
East Bay is also 6th in rebounding defense, grabbing 33.9 rebounds per game.
 
The Pioneers are 7th in the CCAA averaging 12.8 assists per game, with 333 total and are 7th in the conference with 5.5 steals per outing, including 144 total. 
 
SCOUTING CHICO STATE
The Chico State Wildcats are currently ranked 5th in the West Region polls and will host a CCAA playoff game with a 20-6 record and a 13-5 mark in conference play. The Wildcats are coming off back-to-back wins over Stanislaus State 95-67 on February 16 and 63-47 on February 18. Corey Silverstorm is leading the Wildcats with 13.0 points and 3.3 rebounds. Jalen McFerren is adding 12.3 points and 3.0 assists for Chico State.
 
SCOUTING STANISLAUS STATE
The Stanislaus State Warriors will enter the matchup against the Pioneers with a 6-19 mark and a 3-15 record in CCAA action. Stanislaus State is coming off of back-to-back losses to Chico State 67-95 on February 16 and 47-63 on February 18. Vondel Faniel is leading the Warriors with 11.5 points and 8.4 rebounds. Kyle Gouvela is chipping in 10.2 points and 6.4 rebounds for Stanislaus State.
