STOCKTON, Calif. -- The No. 27 ranked Cal State East Bay men's golf team posted a record-setting team total of 275 (-13) in the final round of the NCAA Division II West Regional Preview on Tuesday to vault up six places on the leaderboard and finish in a tie for fourth place out of 22 teams.
East Bay's total of 275 is the lowest single round score by a Pioneer squad since the program joined Division II and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in 2009. All four of the team's scoring golfers shot even par or better on Tuesday.
The Pioneers finished with a 36-hole total of 567 (-9), putting them in a tie for fourth place with No. 47 Western Washington. It was an extremely tight race during Tuesday's action, but California Baptist (-12) ended up snagging the team title by one stroke. BYU Hawaii (-11) placed second, followed by No. 40 Chico State (-10) in third.
