HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team will return home for weekend matchups against Humboldt State and Cal Poly Pomona.

The Pioneers (12-7, 5-6 CCAA) will take on Humboldt State (8-10, 3-8 CCAA) on Friday night, January 27 and will complete the weekend with a visit from Cal Poly Pomona (5-10, 3-8 CCAA) on Saturday night, January 28. Both games are set to tip at 7:30 p.m. in Pioneer Gymnasium.

WEEK IN REVIEW
East Bay went 1-1 on the road this past weekend against Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The Pioneer began the weekend with an 80-90 setback loss to Cal State L.A.
Jalen Richard led CSUEB with his first double-double of the season scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Micah Dunour finished with a game high 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks on 9-for-15 shooting from the field on 35 minutes of action.

Juwan Anderson tallied 11 points, a game high six assists, three rebounds and a steal on 29 minutes on the court. Anderson went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc and sunk both of his foul shots.

The Golden Eagles controlled the paint out scoring the Pioneers 34-24 in paint points and out rebounding them 40-28.

The Pioneers were able to scored 24 points off 18 forced turnovers and outscore the Golden Eagles 11-4 in second chance points.

East Bay was able to bounce back against Cal State Dominguez Hills with an 80-71 victory. The Pioneers controlled the game from the tip. East Bay led Cal State Dominguez Hills 45-26 at the intermission.

CSUEB held the Toros to 29.0 percent shooting from the field and 0-8 from three-point land in the first half on action. The Pioneers would take their biggest lead of 22 points midway through the second half as they shot 50 percent from beyond the three-point arc as a team.

The Pioneers shot 58.0 percent from the floor in the first half and 50.9 percent for the contest, while shooting 84.6 percent accuracy from the foul line for the game.

Micah Dunhour led the Pioneers with a game high 26 points on 9-for-19 shooting in 38 minutes on the floor. He added three rebounds, two assists and a block while going 8-for-9 from the charity stripe.

Jalen Richard turned in 25 points and a team high seven rebounds. He chipped in one steal in 32 minutes on 8-for-13 shooting while going 2-for-5 from three-point range. He finished the game going 7-for-9 from the foul line.

Juwan Anderson compiled seven points, a game best three assists and a game high three steals. Anderson finished with three rebounds on 30 minutes on the court.

The Pioneers hot first half shooting night helped secure the victory although they were out rebounded 39-26 and out scored in paint points 40-28. East Bay was able to score 17 points off 12 forced turnovers from the Toros. The teams broke even as they both finished with 15 bench points.

The Pioneers have two players in the top-5 in scoring with senior forward
Micah Dunhour currently sitting 1st in the conference with 17.3 points on 47.3 percent shooting accuracy, which ranks 7th. He is also 7th in the conference grabbing 6.9 rebounds per outing. He is 3rd in the CCAA with 33.4 minutes per game.

Dunhour leads East Bay with six double doubles on the season and has scored in double figures in 18 out the Pioneers 20 games. He is putting in 18.2 points per contest in conference play.

Jalen Richard is 5th in the CCAA scoring at a 15.6 per game clip. He is 16th in the conference racking up 5.6 boards per contest. He sits 6th in the CCAA playing 33.0 minutes per game. He is also shooting 38.6 percent from three-point land, which is 6th in the conference.

Juwan Anderson leads the CCAA with 5.3 assists and a 3.1 assist to turnover ratio. Anderson has 96 assists and only 31 turnovers so far on the season. He is averaging 5.5 assists in conference play.

Druce Asah is putting in a 11.5 points point game on 44.7 percent accuracy from the field, including 44.7 percent shooting from three-point range, 5th in the CCAA. Asah is averaging 2.2 made three-pointers per outing.

Pierre Carter is leading the Pioneer bench with 8.1 points and 2.9 rebounds on 40.8 percent shooting from the floor in 24.4 minutes of action per game. Carter has scored in double figures in four of the last seven games.

Drew Bender is contributing 5.9 points, 2.0 assists and 2.4 rebounds. Bender is shooting an impressive 86.8 percent from the charity stripe for the season.

The Humboldt State Lumberjacks will enter the meeting with East Bay with an 8-10 mark overall and 3-8 record in CCAA action. The Lumberjacks are coming off back-to-back losses last week to Chico State 83-100 and to Stanislaus State 72-76. Humboldt State defeated East Bay 68-62 on December 30 in Arcata. Tyras Rattler Jr., has putting in 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds from the Lumberjacks. Malik Morgan is adding 12.3 points and 4.3 assists from Humboldt State.

SCOUTING CAL POLY POMONA
The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos come into the matchup against the Pioneers with a 5-10 record over and 3-8 mark in CCAA play. The Broncos are coming back-to-back home wins over Stanislaus State 55-54 and over Chico State 63-60. The Pioneers defeated Cal Poly Pomona 78-69 in Kellogg Arena on December 15. Jordan Ogundiran leads the Broncos with 13.1 points. 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Jeremy Dennis is chipping in 12.4 points and 5.1 rebounds for Cal Poly Pomona.
