HAYWARD, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay softball team saw its season end a little early as the final series of 2016 at Humboldt State was rained out this past weekend. The Pioneers end the year with an overall record of 18-28 a mark of 13-21 in California Collegiate Association (CCAA) play.
Humboldt State, ranked No. 3 in the nation, finishes the season 45-3-1 and clinches the CCAA regular season championship with a conference record of 32-2.Â
East Bay was solid at home under first-year head coach
Claire Sua-Amundson, posting a record of 10-12 at Pioneer Field. Offensively, they were led by senior
Rose Marston, who had a breakout senior year leading the team in batting average (.351), ob-base percentage (.49), total bases (67), and runs scored (33).
Fellow senior
Sierra Clark had an outstanding season in the circle, leading the team with 142.0 innings and 10 victories. She ranked sixth in the CCAA in both ERA (1.68) and strikeouts (116).Â
The 2016 All-CCAA teams will be announced this week at the annual CCAA championship banquet, whch is held the night before the start of the CCAA postseason tournament in Stockton, Calif.Â
